i wont argue or disagree with what you said but there are other scenarios:
1. in some instances, especially where the broker is also an mm, the shares you are buying are actually from the broker house and not the mm, i have been told in certain instances that when you request your certificates you have to clarify and/or be certain who is holding your certificates, the broker or the company.
