I believe sales tax is a small amount in typically small purchases such as books. I doubt it will change the quantity of sales online or off. However, larger ticket items will be majorly impacted. A good example is the purchase of a very nice engagement ring. The consumer will try to negotiate the price of the item lower so that their total including tax fits their budget. The PA sales tax rate is %6. Thus the sales tax on a $8,000 engagement ring is more than the cost of most wedding bands. This becomes a factor.
