Elmer: << AMD has shown that between Flash Memory, networking and what used to be their microcomtroller product line , they could be a profitable company. Management has chosen to neglect their money makers and instead focus on an enormously bad policy of trying to compete with Intel. This pathological behaviour is what is causing AMD's red ink. It is a continuous disservice to AMD shareholders to persue this policy. In the years that the rest of the tech sector has shown enormous growth, AMD has pissed $$Millions if not $Billions away on the disasterous K5 and now K6. How much growth could AMD have enjoyed if they had put those resources into their other product lines? >> Without AMD I and everyone couldn't afford a cheap and powerful computer. 2 years ago I had to pay $1600 for an Acer Pentium 133MHz without the monitor. When I bought it the Pentium has been introduced for 4 years! Intel had no competition and it was no sense for them to cut price or improve technology. Ever since AMD has come to the seen, INTC has increased the Pentium from 166 to 266 and dropped the price greater than 60% in 1 year. It was a blessing for consumers. I don't care what you think some one has to do the dirty work to compete with INTC. AMD happened to be that company. It is a valiant effort. AMD losed money but continued to compete. My hat is out for them for bringing the end to the monopolist. Maxwell
