I wouldn't be surprised by 4.5 million either, but to try and give a firm number is nothing but speculation. I think anyone who takes the stock home is crazy. That's short or long. Way out of my risk tolerance level either way.

I realize that reported short interest is stale by the time the little guy gets it. I think everyone should write the SEC and the NASD and insist that short interest be published daily</>. In this information age there is no reason why yesterday's short interest couldn't be published before the bell tomorrow. It would benefit longs and shorts alike.
