Chris,
Lots of talk about insurance coverage and Viagra. The drug will be sold in huge amounts regardless of insurance coverage. The size of the script will be smaller and more often if coverage is dropped or restricted but the sales will continue. Most insurance doesn't cover birth control pills but that doesn't stop women from taking them.

There is something wrong with your numbers.
Number of scripts for Viagra in 2nd week was 113,000.
Number of scripts for Lipitor in 2nd week was 2,071.

Source:

NEW YORK, April 27 (Reuters) - Pfizer Inc's (PFE - news) new impotence drug, Viagra, had 113,134 new prescriptions in the week ended
April 17, the compound's second week on the market, auditing firm IMS America said Monday.

The number compares with 36,263 new prescriptions written for the drug during the week of April 10, IMS told Reuters.

IMS spokeswoman Nancy Duckwitz said Viagra's second week sales were impressive. By comparison, she said 2,071 new prescriptions
were written for Warner-Lambert Co's (WLA - news) blockbuster anti-cholesterol drug Lipitor during its second week on the market in
February 1997.
