Grant Cain,

I don't think that the company knows when they will receive large orders for GigaMux from network operators. Since it is a new product, new market, and new players, they seem to be learning their way around. That is probably the reason that in the recent meeting with analysts in New York, they suggested the 18 month, three phase process. They indicated that there are three network operators in the third and final phase. Since the process with Brooks Fiber started in Nov. 1997, the 18 month time frame would indicate that any possible large orders may materialize in early 1999, as you are suggesting.

This may have been the basis for the down grade by Joe Galdue. However, I do agree with your comment that how Joe Gladue has come up with the negative earning estimate for this quarter. Before, I have always hoped that he was right, but this time I am hoping that he is wrong. But, remember the estimate that David Pawlak has projected for this quarter. It is only one cent, if I remember correctly. Now, it does not take a lot to go in negative territory from there. So he may indeed be right. And who knows, may be David is also considering lowering his estimates.

Well, all this may mean yet another buying opportunity below $3 . The earliest I am looking to sell is in early 1999, and therefore any price fluctuation from now until then does not mean much, provided the company does not go belly up.

By the way they did say in the New York meeting that the will have a larger R&D spending in future.

I hope that David Pawlak or some one else with some better information about the projected GigaMux sales will enlighten us.

Regards,

Afaq Sarwar
