You've got to have really good eyes and be a graduate of the Evelyn Wood speed reading course to catch the verbiage in some of those disclaimers. I believe they fall under the category of "CYA", but as litigious as we've become here in the U.S., these companies have to protect themselves from the one or two buffoons that would actually have their kids sitting in the back seat of their SUV serving granny or pappy scalding hot coffee while barreling down Pike's Peak!
