As to "wounded party", MSFT is simply learning how to play the political game. If they are only half as successful doing this as they have been with software then I for one feel pretty good about the future. Between the IRS congressional investigations, Ken Starr, and everything else arising from inside the Beltway, the general public has a less than favorable opinion of the government; I think it fair to surmise that the DOJ has an uphill battle with the public when it comes to credibilty vs. MSFT.

Just as MSFT/Gates set December 7th a few years ago as an internet D-Day and turned the company on a dime perhaps MSFT has determined that they should not employ their "old" approach.
