Hi Kenneth,

The Accelar Switch is intended for switched backbone applications.
So, it is a network center switch, not a "desktop switch".

The purpose of Gigabit is essentially to deliver the infrastructure
to allow 100BASE-X (100 Meg) to the desktop for large networks. It
is primarily intended to be deployed in risers, switch interconnects,
and to server farms. At this point, Gigabit only operates over
optical media, so the horizontal wiring can not be used for this
application. Personally, I don't see desktop applications for this
technology for a while. Note that the transition to switched 100BASE-X
is just starting relative to the desktop.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Bruce
