I have to say that I think sequels take away from the original 50 word piece. It's as if the story was enough. What do you think?

I agree Tom. Not that the sequels haven't been good, I just think that is a different genre and I'd rather see stand alone stories here. The idea behind a 50 word short story is that the story has a start, middle, and end, all within 50 words. Nothing wrong with being inspired by a story though.
