The site's "random rumors" are ridiculous. Nobody is saying ALL the computers will stop or ALL the companies will go bankrupt. Just enough to seriously disrupt things.

Your statement I don't believe it is the end of the world like so many think. is utterly banal. Nobody is saying it is the end of the world

If 99% of the electrical connections in your apartment were fine, but on a certain date 1% will fail and maybe start a fire which will spread to engulf the entire building, wouldn't you fix your wiring? Wouldn't you want all your neighbors to fix their wiring too?

Or would you trivialize it because an apartment fire is not the end of the world?

Call your local Utilities and ask if they will guarantee, in writing, that Y2K will not cause any disruption in service.

Call your local emergency services dept and ask if they can guarantee, in writing, that their computer dispatching systems will all operate flawlessly come 1/1/2000.

Get back to me after they get back to you.
