Gee, I guess Microsoft is, by their own admission, guilty of
causing "broad, negative consequences" for the entire industry.

Isn't this the product that is over a year late, already? I doubt
that few months' delay would mean much more damage to any
other vendor.

The only issue I can see with the delay is that a lot of larger
companies are going to be working hard later this year to get
all their desktops Y2K compliant. For many, it comes down to a
choice of fixing what they have (Win 3.1 and Win 95) or going to
Win 98 or Win NT 4.0 on everything. If Win 98 is delayed any more,
it will cease to be a viable choice for many large companies as a
standard part of a Y2K compliant desktop. This only affects
Microsoft's upgrade revenues, not any OEM sales.
