Cheryl -

Just checked my notes from NYC conference. I had incorrectly assumed that big problems would not be occurring on plant floors until late 99. Apparently problems will happen MUCH sooner.

I was speaking with a Y2K project manager in a largish manufacturing plant. They've been at Y2K for close to three years now & do expect to be "done" in time.

He lists 35% of his central systems as having 1/1/99 drop dead dates. 70% dropdead by July 99.

Conclusion... all this media noise about the world coming to an end on 1/1/00 is way off base... this is going to be torture by 10,000 ant bites.

I have been in San Francisco the last two days for orientation training. I met a CPA from Bank of America at lunch. We were discussing y2k and she was very concerned about the BofA merger with Nations Bank and how that is going to affect their systems and y2k compliance. She said they are already having problems getting their systems ready....
