EMR Microwave Technology Corporation 64 Alison Blvd. New Brunswick, Canada, E3C 1N2 (506) 459-4334 (506) 444-8707 EMR PRESS RELEASE JOINT EMR - CMRI FACILITY BECOMES OPERATIONAL Fredericton, NB 4 May 1998 - - - EMR Microwave Technology Corporation ("EMR") (EMW-ASE) announces that its jointly operated facility at Colorado Minerals Research Institute (CMRI) in Golden, Colorado is operational and will become fully commissioned within 30 days. This facility will serve the two fold purpose of enabling CMRI to provide pilot and test services to mining clients worldwide using EMR's technology and also to enable EMR to collaborate with CMRI in the development of new processes using CMRI's recognized metallurgical expertise. EMR delivered a microwave generator and specially designed applicator equipment to CMRI in March 1998. AMANA personnel (manufacturer of the generator) commissioned the generator in April and experimental testing commenced immediately thereafter. At the recent Randol Gold and Silver Forum in Denver (27-29 April) EMR presented two leading papers announcing its Pilot Plant operation and process economics; CMRI also annouced the opening of the microwave facility at the same Forum. Joint EMR-CMRI marketing efforts, including at the Randol Forum, have resulted in immediate interest from major gold producers. On 29 April 1998, Isonics Corporation (OTC:ISON), a California based company, announced that it has acquired Interpro, the corporate owner of CMRI, which will continue to operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Isonics from its current location with its present management and staff. Isonics is an advanced materials and technology company which develops and commercializes products based on enriched stable isotopes. EMR's agreement with CMRI will continue, with the added advantage that CMRI has gained considerable marketing and financial strength through this acquisition. EMR and CMRI have identified several strategic initiatives in gold and copper minerals processing in direct response to mining industry interest. CMRI's facilities will be used immediately upon commissioning to commence development work on these processes. EMR and CMRI will coordinate their development programs to take maximum advantage of both EMR's expertise in microwave system development and engineering and CMRI's expertise and industry experience in metallurgy and process development.
