Speaking for myself, I'm turning 50 next year and am more concerned about retirement $ than buying stuff. I think that's what "THe Great Boom" is referencing...at a certain point, the boomsters will hoard for future. The boomettes (people born post 1964) will in the next 5 years probably start considering the same issue.

As you know, there is also the echo boom, kids of boomers. Now they won't enter their peak earning years until 2010-2015 so there'll be a drop off for awhile. Interesting book, check it out.
