Of Mice and Men

"He brings out the "worst" in a lot of people, including myself"

I give you a parable, Barney

There was once a king of a mighty kingdom who called his two sons to his court and asked them a question. Is nobility an innate part of the heart of man, or is it learned through his environment. The first son answered, it is learned through their environment. The second son said it is inborn.
Their father the king gave them one week to go and collect evidence to prove their answers.
The two sons went out looking for evidence. After searching for three days the first son came upon a tavern where he found a cat dressed in a waiters outfit, walking upright on his two hind legs and serving tables. The son immediately recognized that this should prove his case for nobility being learned behaviour rather than inborn. If a mere cat can be trained to overcome his nature, how much more a man. He bought the cat an waited for the day of appearance in his father's court.
The second son searched all week and found no evidence to support his claim that nobility was inborn. On the last day, the son was in despair as he walked towards his father's court. On the way he passed a pet shop with many varieties of pets. As he looked through the window, he suddenly had an idea. He went in and bought what he had seen.
The court was assembled and everyone had heard of the trained cat and were anxious to see his performance. The first son brought out his cat and had him serve the king a drink from his tiny tray. The audience went wild with applause and the king was delighted. The first son spoke up and said, this proves that nobility is learned and not inborn.
The second son immediately walked up with his box and opponed it. Several mice ran out of the box pursued by a trained cat in fancy dress.

Don't blame the mice if they uncover and unchanged heart under a well trained facade.

Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee,.... Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

<< My wife 'sez I am a kind, gentle, old geezer---and we've been married for years and years---but for the first time in my life I called someone a JERK. That is what this preacher will do to you. He has lost all sense of kindness and propriety. His parish includes Chrisland, Robert, and sometimes Bob S.>>

Jack, stop lying, the word JERK , and many others have been harbored in your heart all your life. All it takes is the right circumstances for it to be exposed. So please stop the deception, many of us have been around long enough to know that all flesh is corrupt.
