Norman, us shorts here are trying to pioneer down in a market that refuses go do anything but go up. I must be honest to say I would advise you to wait, until this market cools off.
It appears that won't happen for some time.
Warren Buffet said this morning that the only way he could see that happening is a dramatic rise in interest rates or a decline in corporate America's ROE.

>>>>Wouldn't it be smarter to just wait until Amazon definitely is on the skids before you establish a short position (this relies on the assumption that one can get Amazon shares to short)?? Your percentage gain will be almost the same whether you jump in at 90, 70 or 50, if the stock does end up going down into the teens,<<<

Norman - while you make a good point re: risk , we're only human.
How can you sit by and watch a stock trade for such a ridiculous number , and not want to get short ? When it starts to dive , it may be harder to borrow shares , as you say. Puts are attractive , also.
I am short now , and will be happy to add to that position at 70 , and again at 50 , again at 30 , and at 25 , etc.... good luck to all.

Norman,

You are correct about the waiting but your comment above is the problem.

Norman,

Your post was flattering, but frankly there are quite a few people on this thread who have posted far better analyses than have I (Messrs. Herbert and Buschman, to name a few).

I do agree with your point, though. Fundamentally, AMZN obviously is overvalued. But the market doesn't care. That being the case, why fight the tape? That is a real problem with this or any internet short in my mind. I'm just hoping that the end is nearer than we think (or that Glenn's sixth sense is accurate).
