Donald, artisinal mining is huge in Indonesia and in 99% of cases illegal. There are no environmental controls. The price of gold has risen 325% from about Rp 735,000 per ounce to Rp 2,400,000. Unfortunately for the illegal miners, the price of Harleys has risen commensurately. PS. As a matter of interest, it was the presence of illegal miners that led to the original discovery of B----g in 1988. It was the lack of illegal miners from the streams draining Bre-X's South-East zone which should have been a dead give-away that something was v. fishy. Junaidi
