The seller(s) unloading at 8 hope to soak up all the buy volume and turn the rally. They will then re-stock at 7 3/4 --> 6 5/8. This is a gamble, and they may not be able to stop the rally, but they are already making profit, so the risk is for the gravy.

Increased volume at the close may have broken them -- slight gap up tomorrow? -- but this buying will have its effect. They might take a new position, say at 8 3/8, after watching the AM runup. Once they find the right level, they will sit on it and ride it down. Or they will run out of goods trying. But that is their job -- judging the strength of the flow, and determining when they can turn the tide, and when to just take the ride.
