Hi. I was just poking around in here to find out what y'all were saying about the IBM thing and about the rumor that Sun was joining Linux International. It seems that y'all didn't think much of the former (or of twister :-), but I haven't seen anything about the latter. See the link:

slashdot.org

It isn't clear that this means anything but that Sun has realized that Linux on occasion sells a SPARC machine, but it might be interesting
to follow.

Also, one other interesting thing to watch may be the new UltraAXi boards from the division formerly known as Sun Microelectronics. You can get an ATX-format motherboard with 300MHz processor (same as in the Ultra 10), Ultra/Wide SCSI, 10/100Mbps Ethernet, and 6 PCI slots on two busses, for about $1750 in small quantities. It takes buffered ECC Fast Page Mode DIMMS, which are running around $350 for 128MB modules (must be installed in sets of four). I've got four of these on order and have high hopes for them. I tried the original UltraAX board last year, but had a lot of EIDE troubles. I still have one running, though, and it is really a nice, snappy system. Also that was the first PCI board from Sun and they've moved to SCSI on the AXi. We could easily be seeing $2500 clones being built from this board soon.
