I'm certain they are.

As for working with DEC - think about the "leverage" they could get for applications development if their IA64 Unix was the same for DEC machines and Sequent machines.

Developers would be more prone to write/port IA64 applications to a COMBINED DEC/Sequent OS than just for Sequent alone.

Remember - software sells hardware.
