Netscape works just fine with Win98, no need to use IE for your browser. Almost all of the default links will also go to netscape if you choose that option on install. But lots of other stuff will use pieces of the IE browser when they run. But Netscape does not do the integrated browser / explorer thing which is kind of neat.

Night Writer: If competition is the real name of the game for those ganging against Microsoft, you are right, they should be developing new products such as an Office 97 or Windows 95 and hook them to their products and market them any way they can. The only thing is that those products must be well better than Microsoft's and VOILA! that should do the trick.The end of Microsoft. Wasn't that what Microsoft did when it was the underdog? How many operating systems were around when DOS started. Apple for one had the most beautiful and efficient OS. For what I understand SUN Microsystems had one. There was also UNIX. All those OSs were by far better than DOS. Actually just about everything in this world was better than DOS.DOS was a lousy OS. But Bill Gates and Co. did not cry, nor they went to the government for help. They worked hard at it and came up with a marketing formula that put the computer at the hands of every one like me who otherwise would have remained ignorant about computers, just because we could not have afforded the glittering machines from Apple, SUN and the likes. These companies wanted to make their OS proprietary and sell them at great prices only with their machines (wasn't it bundling ?), following IBM example and they lost. Actually they did not lose. They missed. They are millionaires yet.
