I think price will be less of an issue in China for the next
few years anyway. Paradoxically, the more something costs,
the less sensitive we are to price. While we think we've
got a bargain when we buy soap for $1 instead of $2, when
spending more, say on a car or house, other factors can
matter more. Since a PC must cost several months salary
in China, and since it's such a big amount of money anyway,
Chinese will probably just buy what they perceive to be
the best system. This may explain why Intel PII are selling
well in China, and I have not heard anything about K6 or
Cyrix sales.

Hi!!! Thanks for the post on China....huge possibilities....mind boggling when one thinks that 1 in every 5 people on the earth are Chinese...as previously stated..IBD article was lent to a friend encouraging him to BUY DELL.....haven't seen article since...but, it left a lasting impression upon me..especially the one child theory with the cultural importance..Yes...education more important than a car or football...
