Francis,

"The 0.25 [micron process] is ramping so well and quickly that we are able to get to volume earlier,'' Darbonne said.

It also means that Intel has more unsold .25u PII-333,350,400 and has to degrade and remark these unsold parts as "Celeron". It would bring down Intel ASP and hurt its current earnings.

Not bad!

Francis , re. speeding up Celeron road map
It is a case of necessity , even at 300 + 333Mhz it should still be in last place . If a Celeron 266mhz = a K6-200 then a Celeron 333mhz most likely will be similar to a K6-266mhz . That will make a nice change AMD's lowest speed product equal to the highest performing Intel equivalent .
