because a mouse is what those in the medical field call "a small 4 legged rodent", whereas human beings are QUITE a bit larger,have only 2 legs, and are prone to flatulence...

For the same reason that you can cut a worm in half and it will survive...It's different biologically.
BTW, I don't think this drug is as all-encompassing with regard to cancer as some may think. It WON'T help cancer patients who have metastasized, and I'm sure its treatments will be as limited as all other cancer treatments.
