All: While browsing through the PC software offerings at a CompUSA store, I ran across OilChange ($29.95 - forgot URL) and TuneUp ($27.95 - www.tuneup.com).

They both do essentially the same thing, which is keep your PC tuned up to the latest level of software drivers and patches.

There is no Y2K feature to them. Yet. However, the technological portion of the products that synchs your PC with the latest versions is complete and functional. The only thing missing is a database of Y2K related stuff. If the marketeers and developers of those two products are on their toes, you can bet they know about all of their competitors. So, I expect they're already working on a version of their products that includes Y2K fixes.

Perhaps the value of CSHK's product is the database of Y2K stuff, and they could sell it to their competitors. Unless, of course, CSHK's database was purchased from somebody else already. In that case, you can bet that whoever sold them the database is already in contact with the vendors of the two products mentioned above. And that means that some very strong competition is right around the corner. Which means the prices for all these products will come down.

Ain't competition a wonderful thing?

Regards,
