Mang,

>> 3com's 10Q for the third qtr, well-formatted and tons of details <<

Thanks for reminder, will try to take a detailed look later as
time permits.

>>"The company believes it has meritorious defense to the claims and intends to contest the lawsuits vigoriously"<<

Yes, I belive that they have a good case. I'm not an expert in
law or accounting, but from what I understand, there was nothing
outright illegal done (even though it looked like SEC pressured
them to somewhat redo previous financial statemtents).

Plus, as we have sort of touched on in this thread, it's very
possible COMS was stuck inbetween a rock and a hard spot with
the modem problems...

As out esteemed Mr. D.Lawrence has said, "it's
water under the bridge".
All, this has been factored
into the stock price. We need to be looking forward to the great potential in the future and making sure that Eric B. and COMS
execute - which I am banking on.

Joe

Mang,

Seems like this morning, the market's problems are the
interest rate hikes in Europe. Seems like the French
have stirred the pot very viciously, and I hope they
don't derail the EU/currencey rates/interest rates balance.

The head of IMF has suggested that the FED raise rates
ASAP - I will be one pissed off MF if Greenspan raises
because of the EU flap and IMF Managing Director
Michel Camdessus.

The only good thing, after some extreme volitility is that
inflation will be 0.0% after Asia has to devalue some more.

The market doesn't need all this BS.

But, COMS is still in the green!!

Some good news for higher end NICs

---------------------------------------------------------------

IP Metrics Announces NIC Express; New Load Balancing Software for Network Adapters Dramatically Improves Server Reliability and Performance

BusinessWire, Tuesday, May 05, 1998 at 09:38

EULESS, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 5, 1998--IP Metrics Software,
a startup formed to develop bandwidth management software for PC
networks, today introduced NIC Express, a load balancing software
solution for network interface cards.
"NIC Express improves the fault-tolerance and performance of Windows
NT network servers," said David Wilbanks, president, CEO and
co-founder of IP Metrics. "Our software allows customers to load
balance network traffic across two or more NICs, thereby eliminating
the NIC as a potential point of server failure and increasing the
amount of data that can be pumped through the network interface."
"Our network adapter load balancing technology provides customers
superior reliability, manageability and performance," said Brett
Dolecheck, CTO and co-founder of IP Metrics. "We look forward to
bringing this advanced functionality to market."

NIC Express Improves Server Availability and Fault Tolerance with
Dynamic Failover

NIC Express ensures high server availability by creating a failsafe
connection across multiple NICs in its array. If any one NIC fails,
it will be taken out of the array and the other cards will share the
redistributed load without loss of data or network connection. NIC
Express manages the failover in under one second, and will
automatically reinitialize a port when it comes back on line or is
replaced.

NIC Express Improves Server Performance

For many high-bandwidth environments, such as electronic commerce
web servers or application servers, the network interface card
represents a significant performance bottleneck. NIC Express allows
network managers to scale performance up to near gigabit Ethernet
speeds by distributing traffic across multiple Ethernet network
adapters.
The software assigns connections to different adapters as users log
into the server. This effectively increases bandwidth by a factor
equal to the number of adapter ports in the server. To the server
and end users, the multiple adapters appear as a single network
interface, only with improved response times.

NIC Express Provides Complete Manageability

NIC Express provides robust manageability through its support of
five levels of SNMP alerts, and can be remotely monitored via leading
network management platforms such as Computer Associates' (NASDAQ:CA) CA Unicenter, Hewlett Packard's (NYSE:HWP) OpenView and IBM's
Tivoli Management Environment. In addition to SNMP alerting, NIC
Express features a simple interface from which network administrators
can easily monitor NIC performance, either on a per port basis or
across the entire array.

NIC Express Easily Integrates into Most Network Environments

NIC Express is easy to install and provides network administrators
flexible configuration options. Administrators can create a single
array of multiple adapter ports or can create multiple NIC arrays by
segmenting the arrays to different network switches. The number of
NIC cards that NIC Express can support is limited only by the number
of slots, ports and PCI buses in the server.
NIC Express supports Ethernet, Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet,
and supports multiple protocols such as IP, IPX and NetBEUI. In
addition to supporting Intel-based Windows NT servers, NIC Express
also supports DEC Alpha NT servers.
NIC Express supports all leading network interface cards, including
those manufactured by SMC, Intel (NASDAQ:INTC), 3COM (NASDAQ:COMS),
Adaptec (NASDAQ:ADPT), Asante (NASDAQ:ASNT), IBM (NYSE:IBM),
Compaq (NYSE:CPQ), Proteon (NASDAQ:PTON), Matrox and Linksys.

Pricing, Availability and Support

NIC Express is now shipping and is priced at $195.00. NIC Express
is available for free 30-day evaluations from IP Metrics' web site.
IP Metrics' web site also contains two technical white papers
designed to help network professionals architect their servers for
maximum performance and reliability.
