...For Corel in particular, Java is its best chance to open walnut doors in the corporate environment and pull the rug from under Microsoft's feet.

Amplitude Software Announces Licensing of its Calendar Interoperability

...Amplitude customers already licensing ICAP technology include Corel and Trade Show Central, and others are currently in discussion. Corel will be incorporating the ICAP protocol into two of its products, OpenJ and CorelCENTRAL, to permit other software applications to work with these products.

Foreign Spending Gives Area Boost
Study Says $17 Billion Comes Annually From Businesses, Embassies, Others

...The Washington area's $186 billion economy is bolstered by more than $17 billion a year in spending by foreign businesses, embassies, students and tourists, the Greater Washington Board of Trade said in a study released yesterday.
...The direct benefits to the region cited in the study include $1.3 billion in salaries for an estimated 50,000 workers at 700 foreign-owned firms and affiliates in the area, such as Lafarge Corp., a French-owned construction firm in Reston, and Corel Corp., a Canadian-based software firm in the District.
