SANTA MONICA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 5, 1998--

ROUTERmate Featured in Intermedia's Managed Extended Private Lines Service

Osicom Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:FIBR), today announced that Intermedia Communications
Inc. (NASDAQ:NM:ICIX), has selected ROUTERmate(tm) for a new service offering introduced
today. Intermedia's Managed Extended Private Line service will bundle ROUTERmate, a
managed CSU/DSU device, with a private line to increase Intermedia's ability to remotely
manage and monitor the customer circuit and the local loop. Intermedia is the nation's largest
independent competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC).

"In our age of intense carrier-based competition, a carrier's success depends on how well they
respond and manage their customers' needs. This means responding to customer problems before
they even appear on a customers radar," said PG Narayanan, Osicom's executive vice president
operations. "Our ROUTERmate provides carriers with the important ability to proactively
diagnose and solve a customer's problem through its unique alarm call feature."

"Given the critical role of communications in business we want to ensure that our customers'
networks are providing reliable service. We are now offering a managed solution that allows us to
identify a problem, isolate the exact location on the circuit and initiate maintenance often before
the customer even knows there is a problem," said Bob Rouse, Intermedia's executive vice
president of Engineering, Systems and Operations.

Managed Extended Private Line service connects the circuit to the customer's telephone line so
that the circuit effectively becomes part of Intermedia's network. This enables Intermedia to
provide:

-- proactive monitoring of the customer's network -- a single point of contact through a toll free
phone number -- managed configuration and installation services

ROUTERmate plays an important role in the "management" of the extended private line service.
For example, Intermedia's Network Operations Center (NOC) has the capability to remotely
troubleshoot, repair, test and configure the line as if there was an onsite technician. When a
problem arises, ROUTERmate automatically places an "alarm call" via its internal modem, which
identifies a network problem and its exact nature and location. Upon receipt of the "alarm call"
the NOC technician is then able to immediately respond and manage the problem.
