Who says oil reserves are non-renewable. The type we are drilling and digging from the ground now perhaps, but compression ignition vehicles are now successfully running on peanut oil and corn oil. Mohawk Oil in Canada are providing gasoline with a 10% methanol (grain produced) content.

My Company has a SCADA system that monitors a municipal water, sewer and drainage system, but it also monitors a methane collection system from their landfill garbage sites. This methane is used to heat some of their public buildings.

Inginuity will overcome the loss of tradition oil, gas and lubrication sources in due course. Trouble is now even with the heavy taxation of petroleum products, they are still the most efficient to produce.
