Regarding Media Metrix -- If you think users will allow Microsoft or anyone else to place monitoring software in their computers, which will report on what they have been viewing, you're crazy. Remember the outrage when people learned that the online registration for Win95 was providing Microsoft with system configuration information and a list of programs already installed on the computer? You ain't seen nothing yet, by way of public outrage, if Media Metrix tries to include its cyber snoop in everyone's computers. I still think WAVO is a promising investment (once the uncertainty over the release of Win98 is resolved), but if WAVO becomes associated with this type of monitoring software, the resulting controversy will doom WAVO. In fact, WAVO's press releases imply that WAVO has included monitoring capabilities in its software in order to inform advertisers of the number of people who actually have seen their ads. Does anyone have any concrete information on whether this is the case?
