<Francis - You post negatively nearly continuously about Intel and Celeron. Repetition doesn't make a point more true. If Celeron is
a success it will be a success with or without your comments.>

It's not the same URL, not the same author. Therefore it is
not a repetition, but an additional data point. Do you base
your decisions on a single analyst report or after reading
a single market opinion?

Secondly, I don't claim to be offering the "truth" I simply
offer URLs that I find - they happen to be negative ones,
because it's the contrary information which can be the most
useful - it's the information which makes you think.

Thirdly, these URLs are not MY comments - I don't write them.

If my posts make you uncomfortable, then avoid them.

Good Luck with your investments.

Burt, >>>Francis - You post negatively nearly continuously about Intel and Celeron.<<<

I don't think Francis really has anything against Intel. I just think he is one of those people that are afraid of success - somehow in the back of his mind he is thinking if things are going up they are bound to reverse. He is more comfortable waiting around and think

"It is said that money can be made easier on the downside."

So he is going to hang around here and on the Dell thread hoping that when things reverse he will be there to catch the falling knife. But, I think even then he will be too timid to pull the trigger and he will miss the move down as well. And then he will change his tune and he will irritate all the short sellers with URLs extolling Intel virtues.

Francis is the type of person that will never lose a lot of money in the market - but he will not make much either. He will irritate a lot of people though - both bulls and bears.

My advice to Francis "Either sh*t or get off the pot" <ggg>.

Mary

Burt & Intel Investors - Intel has a Design Team re-designing the Deschutes (0.25 micron Pentium II) on the "new" 0.18 micron process.

Code name for this project is CopperMine.

This may be one of the first chips on this new 0.18 micron process - although Merced may tape out first.

My estimate is that die size will be about 85 to 95 sq. mm. on the 0.18 micron process vs. 131 sq. mm. (non-compacted) on the 0.25 micron process.

Once the process reaches Intel "historic" yield levels, Intel's die cost should be well below $20 for each CopperMine chip.

The Vcc Power supply should be at 1.3 volts to 1.5 volts. This should reduce power consumption by 40% to 50% for similar devices on the current 0.25 micron process at similar frequencies. That would translate to 266 MHz notebook PCs with 4 watts of CPU power dissipation.

It would also allow 333 or 350 MHz notebooks using power dissipation of today's Mobile Pentium II at 266 Mhz - about 8 or 9 watts for CPU power dissipation.

At this point, late Q199 looks like the time frame that we may see this chip.
