Buffett famously never, never invests in tech stocks, let alone Net stocks. Pick up any little red book of the chairman's sayings and you'll find gems like this one from Forbes (Oct. 18, 1993):

"Bill Gates is a good friend, and I think he may be the smartest guy I've ever met. But I don't know what those little things [computers] do."

Buffett is the archetypal fundamentalist. He concentrates investments in a few companies he understands absolutely thoroughly, especially those with a huge consumer franchise. Of course he isn't in Net stocks, though I'm amused to learn he plays Internet bridge. Buffett has said prison wouldn't faze him as long as he had bridge partners. A most amusing gentleman, who also, it so happens, thinks the market reasonably solid, last I heard.

So if anyone plays bridge with the man, ask him to speak to the Danes. In fact, suggest he buy their central bank. He can afford to.
