It really depends on the stock, Gates and Allan sell stock every year. No long term adverse effect. At CDO, the Senior Management generally does not sell stock once the options are exercised; it is tacitly frowned upon.

Generally speaking, I doubt it affects the float much, as the company often is in the market buying the stock from time to time to feed it to those in ESOPs and those with options awarded as partial compensation.
