I guess you didn't read the whole post. As usual, you only look at half the picture. The poster said there was a five week back log at the higher price. My guess is that they are coming out with a better product, so want to clear out all of the present line. I was a buyer of Sun equipment for many years and that is what they they usually do.

Twister, I have to disagree with you on price cutting.

Low prices is a key Microsoft strategy, and it has served them well for years.

HP is also a master at "eating its young" i.e. lowering prices and bringing out new models at a fast tempo, in order to dominate the market.

Used wisely, a low price strategy can be a very useful tool.
