intermediate term concerns on DELL

chris, DELL is trading with '98 earnings priced in and on expectation for '99 earnings. Soundview just upped '98 and '99 estimates the other day, hence the close on a new high.

'98 and '99 growth depends a good part on DELL's growth in Europe and China. This part of their business plan must execute without a glitch, or DELL could tumble. Europe will still feel the impact of the Asian crisis, and China is facing hard economic times although it is a controlled economy. DELL has vision and is building a plant in China to migrate into the Asian business market, but these businesses may face some instability ahead and buying computers won't have high priority. Etc, etc. Check the DELL thread, there should be some info to be gleaned besides the usual rah-rah.

Again, my view is that stocks like CSCO and DELL will move with the market and collapse only when they screw up on their execution.
