We always said Ancor had no way of countering Brocades "Misinformation." What about something like Vixel did.

-- Vixel refutes Brocade industry claim of being the first to demonstrate a zoned heterogeneous Fibre Channel network --

Vixel Corporation today refuted two Brocade claims issued by Brocade in a press advisory dated April 30, 1998.

In the disputed advisory, Brocade stated that it would "demonstrate the industry's first zoned heterogeneous Fibre Channel network at Networld+Interop," and that "no other Fibre Channel switch vendor can interconnect, or cascade, switches to build a network fabric."

Vixel's Rapport 4000 switch (formerly the Arcxel AGS/8) was the first Fibre Channel switch to support and demonstrate integrated zoning, (which supports heterogeneous environments) for both loop and direct connection at Fall 1997 Networld+Interop. Further, Vixel switches can cascade to build network fabrics. The Rapport 4000 was also the first switch to support both loop and fabric attachment to the same hardware and the first to support private loop devices with a fabric.

"We don't mind competition," explained Jeff Vogel, vice president of marketing and business development for Vixel. "But industry misinformation doesn't help anyone. Whether it's about product capabilities or unjustified claims that hub-based or switch-based storage systems are mutually exclusive, we want people to be able to choose manufacturers based on a complete knowledge of the facts and what's best for the application they are running over their systems."
