Larry, I have been MIA too. I am just getting to where I can type again. It is a strange tale. Weird Scenes Inside 'Hick House' After a visit by the wolfs kin, I noticed a few (less than 10) small stuffed animals that appeared in an extra bedroom. About a week later, I noticed that they had multiplied. I wandered into the bedroom and was examining these things when the wolf screeched from behind me. I was informed that these were not stuffed toys - they were 'beanie (beenie?,beany?)babies and were not any concern of mine. I restrained my questions about them and their breeding habits due to agitation that was displayed by the wolf. Loss of the Right Hand A few weeks later, I noticed that the 'few' had become over 50 of these things. Again, I wandered into the room to examine these things. The wolf saw me enter the room so she soon appeared. She paused to catch her breath after a few minutes of screeching. I took the opportunity to suggest that we gather them up and get the entire lot sterilized while we still had an extra bedroom. When I awakened, my right hand was in a cast and what I could see of the finger tips had steel pins protruding from them. There seems to be some confusion how my hand came to be shattered. Only the wolf knows the whole story and she isn't talking. Loss of the Left Hand A week ago, the wolf began to snarl things that made no sense to me. Things like 'retired' and 'rare beanie(?) babies'. Since they had multiplied to over a 100, I observed that they would not be rare for long. The wolfs eyes expanded to where the white was visible completely around the iris (something that I have learned means danger). In an effort to defuse the situation, I tried to appear interested as she explained the collector status of these things and the implications of their 'being retired'. I should point out that those of the 'hick' inclination (particularly southern hick) often pronounce 'retired' as 'retard'. I cleared up this little misunderstanding by making sure that she meant 'retired'. Then I made the mistake of making the observation that perhaps the words could be used inter-changeably when related to 'beanie babies'. When I awakened, the left hand was in the same shape as the right hand. The wolf is still not talking. I would be interested to know if anyone else has noticed the undesirable effect that these things have on bone structure. Is this something that the FDA or someone is looking into? I would appreciate some input on this subject. Can I expect other bones to be harmed by these things? Will larger bones be harmed as they multiply? Should I torch the house in an effort to exterminate them? lee(the hick)
