A MM bought it....

The reason is that you do not sell your shares to another investor, you sell it to a market maker (MM). If your market maker decides to hold on to the shares you sold him, the trade is printed as 1000. I the market maker decides to sell those shares soon after you sold them, another 1000 share trade would be printed. There are no MMs on the NYSE or AMEX.
