Reese,
don't know if this is appropriate on this thread, BUT, I too have been a long time customer of Schwab, from the original Schwab One software
and also with an e.Schwab acct.
Recently transferred all of my trading equities to Yamner & Co. & left just $ and a few keeper stocks in the Schwab 1.
I suggest you and the rest of "had it customers" check out the "From the trading desk" thread on SI. Steve Goldman monitors it. He is the head trader for Yamner & Co., very informative! This is the first time I've made trades on the phone with somebody with a pulse,
and must say I extremely satisfied. They will answer the phone before the end of the second ring. They were also VERY helpful in helping the transfer of the equities (which Schwab screwed up).
At least check out "From the trading desk" to gain some real insight on how the market makers work & what the real value of discount brokers are and how they make their money from you.
I'm not affiliated with Yamner in any way, just an extremely pleased & more educated trader because of them.

Reese, I'm just as close to taking my business elsewhere. I logged on this morning and almost 50K was "missing" from my account. My balance had dropped that much overnight. The explanation they gave me was a runaround, but with lots of assurances not to worry, all will be OK by tomorrow. Hey, this really inspires confidence in Schwab, NOT.

Then...I placed a trade this morning using eSchwab which didn't fill, although the Ask remained at my limit for a full half-hour. The price moved up, as I expected. They are giving me the bullshit runaround -- there must have been orders ahead of mine and so on. No, not the way the trading was going. This baloney happens too often.

I'm looking at other options.
