Yikes, on the other hand, the internet is simple enough for most any dummy. imo the trick is access to the info/entertainment/whatever people will want off the web.

Kerry, I think your view, as well as most of SI's members, have a jaded view of technology. We can all throw around buzz words - FTP, HTTP, TCP/IP, LAN, WAN, xDSL, USB, RAM, MB, SCSI, HTML, DHTML, JPEG, GIF....enough! We all know what that means, but ask Mr. Smith in middle America - you might as well be speaking another language.

There must be millions and millions of "dummies," because IMHO AOL is about the easiest setup for internet access out there. And who makes up the majority of AOL employees? Tech reps. I recently saw a video clip from one of the call centers - some of the questions they were asked were out there. The cd tray cup holder isn't to far off.

So, for mass market appeal and penetration...it's so easy, its gotta be number one! I have no doubt that subs first sign on to AOL, get there feet wet, and then move on to pure ISP. But a majority still stay, maybe its for convienence, they enjoy the service, or they don't want to bother learning how to configure dial up with Win95.

Enough about that. Conference call will be played today after the bell on audionet. Plug in and listen..of course, you gotta download Realplayer and configure :^)
