Irby, I don't really trade based upon strong sectors/groups. Each night I run my TradeStation to generate a list of stocks which are exhibiting certain price/volume/momentum criteria (Similar to Cooper's Hit & Run method but with MANY variences). This list usually does a good job of identifying the movers and shakers. This list is usually about 200 stocks. I then look at EVERY chart (this takes about 2 hours each night) and come up with a list of 40 or so stocks that I will watch closely and possibly trade the next day. This list tends to be 70% listed/30% OTC because of my bias. This list will sometimes identify strong industry groups but it is usually quite fragmented. A few names on my NYSE list today are: AOL, FMT, GM, SIE.

I do find that the volatility and the moves are definately less for listed stocks but for me, the smaller spreads and true stops are worth it. My average winning trade is only 5/8 BUT my average loser is only 3/8 and I win more than I lose. I'm more than content with my singles and doubles. With my trading, I'm only trying to make a good living on my own terms. I'll leave the guts and glory and big bucks of trading the fast OTC names to someone else- I prefer the relative tranquility of my little system. But that's just me.

Thanks for your constant, intelligent input to this post. Regards, Allen.
