Fred, thanks for the post. It makes no sense to me that the company would do this..... without an ulterior motive! The company is very closed mouth about their plans normally until they come to frutition. In the seven years that I have been actively following Namtai, however, they have always enjoyed a very good relationship with the Chinese governement. I hope today they will be questioned by the analysts regarding their plans to manufacture and design their own products. Mr. Koo had warned that this quarter was not going to be good, but 1st quarter of 97 was really an extraordinary quarter for them. The impatient among us, myself included, wouldlike to see some progress. However, we are told that we will know what they are going to do with the money by the end of July. The company has a history of making wise investments, so I think we need to give them the benefit of the doubt. Does anyone on this thread have any thoughts on where they are going? Still with nearly $14. of book value, whatever the traders do to the stock today, I will continue to hold as I continue to believe that the company has some upside surprises in store for those of us who will deserve to be well rewarded. I'm contemplating attending the shareholders meeting this year for added insight. should be an interesting conference call.
