My last post was from the right side of my brain. This one, which I posted on Yahoo, is from the left:

Roktar:

My reaction to the IR job: big deal.
My reaction to Noam's CC answer to the institutional investor: surprised at Noam's inarticulate defensive posture. He said nothing to encourage on this count. It was the only low point of the CC.

I agree with you on the point of the importance of a higher stock price. A company's stock price is currency for acquisitions and provides some confidence in potential customers' minds that the company will be around in the future. That's how Cisco got to where it is.

One thought that no one has mentioned: The company's board of directors has got to have diverse names from the technology industry and possibly a representative from an(UGH!) investment banker. The latest 10-K does not list the board of directors, but perusal of the last annual report shows that only two directors were from outside the company - and both were retiring.

If the board of directors had a representative from Merrill Lynch, Goldman Sachs, Hambrecht & Quist, etc., it would go a long way to solving the company's problem with being taken seriously.

Likewise in technology: Possible representation on the board could come from Dell, @Home, Qwest, Pairgain, Tellabs, etc. I believe that such representation would show institutions how serious MRVC is and much could be gained by management with respect to strategic ideas from these representatives. It would also increase the likelihood of partnering with such companies.

Any comments?
