Cisco makes products which connect the world. The worldwide demand for this is growing signficantly faster then the demand for oil. And while this networking industry is rushing to meet demand, new faster, cheaper technology comes online everyday which makes everyone work alittle harder (and drives Cisco to keep acquirring smaller, more nimble companies). This is nota company giving it's technology away and has never produced a profitable quarter, quite the contrary. As for Ktel and the like, I would suggest that Ktel's new "express" venture may just revolutionize the way you acquire CD' s in the furture. Blockbuster, Sony and many others have been scrambling to get a web delivery system in place. When Cisco and companies of it's ilk produce the next generation NET, we will have a viable means to download huge blocks of data (cd's movies, tv programming etc) via the net. This will change life as we know it. The revolution has just begun. I think your throwing the baby out with the bathwater with such a wide reaching generalization.
