Denice,

Bush's looks like a regional company so you may never see the ads. They've been out for a while and there are a few variations, so you probably don't get them in your 'neck of the woods - ha!

How about this new one from Mitsubishi:

The scene is a health club weight room. It is filled with very bulky guys with chiseled faces and bulging biceps pumping iron. They're all doing free weights and are looking very "manly" and sweaty. The intercom announces "whoever has the tan minivan, your lights are on." The camera pans across the room as everybody seemingly ingnores the announcement. Then, louder than before, "To the owner of the tan minivan, your lights are on!" The camera pans again and settles on a brawny guy who's eyes are darting back and forth and looks embarrased and ashamed. The ad's commentator then says "You're Busted" and the commercial cuts to a clip of a "Manly" Mitsubishi sports utility vehicle bouncing over rocks and mud. Very effective. I could feel the guy's shame with him.

The disconcerting thing, though, is how many of these commercials work on our collective pysche (sp?) in this way. It's conveying the message that "if you drive a bland-colored family vehicle, you're just not a stud!" How superficial and vain! I guess that's the kind of society we have now become.
