Gary,

Doesn't sound like Gateway gave you that great customer service they imply on those folksy commercials. I am interested in buying a lap top from them though, five hours of battery power, the best in the biz. Regarding the stock price, I use charts to determine whether or not to take a long or short position in a stock, and Gateway "appears" at this point to be a screaming short. The stock is well above its 50 DMA and over the past year it has returned to bounce off of that level, which right now is the $48 range. It is also overbought rather extensively using stochastics and rsi, which have worked well in the past to signal a possible reversal. Gateway tends to stay at these overbought levels for a week or so, which is where we are about now, but since this is an irrational market to begin with, it's tough to tell when it will break to the downside.

Good Luck

Vinman

Happens at DELL too. Delayed delivery by 3 weeks and took the shipping and handling charges of my bill.

Sorry to hear that. I was thinking about placing an order for that same PC. The problem you are experiencing occurs frequently. Some dope in forecasting erred slightly.

Just wondering how this might affect this quarter's earnings.

Probably a good sign. They're keeping inventory down, or increased demand is using every drive they can get through the door.

A few years ago, getting a PC from Gateway in 3 weeks was a miracle. We've gotten spoiled.

As far as that friendly postcard you got, I think there's a law now that they have to offer to cancel your order and refund any money if it is delayed.

Let us know how your PC works out...

As far as the stock goes, it does seem to be on the "overvalued" end of the spectrum. But as you say "I haven't heard of this problem from Dell."
