sorry ,was in hawaii .it will be funny how these firms react when amAT comes out with awful numbers and maybe a large layoffs-imo- the facts are asia starting to fall apart again .-yes asia is important since they get 58% of their business their. the only thing holding these stocks up is the overall market has been strong one hint of that changing these stocks -semi's will be hit hard since they have no backbone or eps and trading around 3x sales is way overvalued.. amat stated last quarter is that they don't see bookings increasing at the mimimum the fourth quarter , now imo i don;t think you see any meaningfull upswing until third quarter of 1999. . also tower semi (tsemf) came out with their first loss and said thing are getting worse and predicts a bigger loss next quarter---tower is a fab company -they take orders from all the major semi's and is usually a leading indicator for me of downturns or upturns since they take orders in advance. they were one of the first semi's to predict a downturn in semi's and next quarter will take a 40 cent loss. during the 1996 downturn they never lossed money and they earned 1.45 last year. people's only hope this summer will be if the market holds up but don't be shocked if amat bottoms at 1x sales which would put it under 20 because if you look at a historical chart of price/sales its been their before. just a little reality for all the cheerleaders.
