Ms. Sue Rutherford reports
CrossKeys Systems Corp. has signed a global distribution agreement with
Newbridge Networks Corp. The terms of this agreement establishes a formal
arrangement for Resolve, CrossKeys service management application, to be
sold through the Newbridge Networks worldwide distribution channels.
Resolve has been installed at a number of key Newbridge customer sites.
This agreement ensures that the worldwide Newbridge distribution channel
and support network will cover both existing and new customers. In
addition, Newbridge has purchased three Resolve systems for its technical
assistance centres for customers in North and South America, Asia Pacific
and Europe. CrossKeys anticipates an increase in the installed base of
Resolve as a result of this agreement, which will assist in continuing to
solidify and strengthen CrossKeys market share and strategic position in
this segment of the telecommunication industry.
Service management is quickly becoming a major market differentiator in the
Telecommunication Management Network environment. CrossKeys Resolve
provides Newbridge Networks with a critical component of providing its
customers with a complete service and network solution. Resolve allows the
company to offer customers the full end-to-end service view of network
performance and availability that they are demanding. This joint effort in
distributing Resolve confirms the long term commitment that both the
companies have in offering cost-effective, complete solutions to their
valued customers.
Resolve gives service providers the means to effectively manage
service-level relationships they have entered into with their key corporate
customers. This is critical to service providers' largest customers and
allows service providers to offer competitive, differentiated services as
opposed to only being able to offer low-cost, commodity bandwidth. By
adding Resolve to its product offering portfolio, Newbridge channels and
distributors will be able to offer integrated network- and service-level
solutions to its carrier-class customers.
The signing of this agreement signifies a commitment that both CrossKeys
and Newbridge have to address the needs of service providers by offering
the solution sets that they need to make their business more efficient and
successful. This is the first distribution agreement for Resolve between
CrossKeys and Newbridge, establishing formal sales processes for both
product and support packages of Resolve. With this agreement, CrossKeys
anticipates the broadening of its customer reach in the market place and
growth of its installation base, through the expansive Newbridge sales and
distribution channel.
Resolve is a portfolio of service management applications that allows
telecommunication service providers to use service performance, customer
and network information to streamline operations, launch advanced services,
and provide unequaled customer care. Based on an open, standards-based
architecture, Resolve correlates network information, to provide an
end-to-end service view, with links to customer information and Quality of
Service objectives. Resolve offers service providers the means to provide
service performance-oriented and customer-focused information of the
network to their corporate customers. By offering this customer and
service-oriented view, Resolve enables highly effective monitoring of key
differentiators, namely Service Level Agreements and QoS guarantees. By
placing customers and users at the center of performance monitoring and
reporting, Resolve gives operations, marketing, sales and customer care
departments of service providers the tools they need to deliver on usage
and availability-based SLA.

Newbridge manages to get foot in AT&T door

By KEITH DAMSELL
Technology Reporter The Financial Post
Newbridge Networks Corp. has been enlisted to help build AT&T
Corp.'s new worldwide network service, a confidence-building first
major deal with the U.S. telecommunications giant that could mean
millions in revenue for the Ottawa equipment maker.
"It's marvelous news," said Iain Grant, managing director of the
Yankee Group in Canada, a high- tech consulting firm based in
Brockville, Ont.
"It's another endorsement for Newbridge's approach."
Newbridge will supply products to enhance AT&T's sprawling
managed-bandwidth service, which offers voice, image, video and
data services.
