Travis,

In reality, the whole "interim" thing is a non issue. It doesn't matter what people are called, what matters is what they do. And I think most would agree that Job's IS doin' it.

But keeping the interim issue alive pulls a lot of press and builds drama. IMHO, Jobs is playin' it for all he can get.

Regards,

Scott

Travis,

Here's the scoop on the Moneyline interview:

Apple's announcement(s) tomorrow, which may very well turn out to be another that's "on the cover of every newspaper the next morning," will be followed up by Interim CEO Steve Jobs appearing on CNN's Moneyline at 7 PM tomorrow, the day of the announcement, according to a reader.

That's 7 pm EST.

I can't believe it's taken so long for Steve to decide on the CEO thing. It's so obvious
he wants it. And now that I've finished Gil's book, I am sure of it. Gil describes many
situations where Steve pitched himself to be CEO. Maybe he wanted a lot of time to
'build up.' maybe tomorrow we'll get lots of goodies! :)

I don't think we'll get any announcement from Jobs about taking the permanent CEO spot for quite some time. I tend to believe what Gil Amelio said in that Real Audio interview posted a few days ago. Gil said that Steve would only take the position when it's absolutely clear that Apple is out of the woods and will remain profitable. We ain't there yet. I'd love to see Jobs take the job, but I don't think we'll get that before Macworld in July, and probably not then either.

Funny... when I read your note I got this image in my mind... surrounded with huge presents, all wrapped beautifully, big boxes of prsents, and pulling in more and more boxes so that he's almost buried in gaily wrapped presents... the earnings, the G3, Wall Stret, the AMC, more and more good news and finally when he is totally buried in presents, he will announce he has taken the CEO position, because he EARNED it first.

It's like the exact opposite of what Gil Amelio did, who took the pay first and then attempted to earn it.
